Set on a small island just off the mainland, Trogir is one of the highlights of the Dalmatian coast. Although founded by the Greeks and developed by Romans, today is well known for its medieval objects set mostly at the main square. The cathedral, city hall, and city loggia bring you back to the 13th and 14th centuries, with the same formation and structure.
Radovan’s Portal (entrance of the Cathedral) is one of the famous works of the Romanesque style in the European context. Still very close to Split, this small historical site, turned into a lively city with a wide promenade, has an irresistible charm confirmed by thousands of tourists every year.
Although they had a similar history, Trogir is a very specific city situated on a small island. It is considered the most beautiful example of medieval architecture, while Split is mostly presented as a late antic (Roman) site.
You can visit it at any time of the day. It is very busy and lives in the morning and noon, and also has intensive nightlife during the season.
Trogir is full of good restaurants charming bars, and souvenir shops. There is also a picturesque food market and a very wide promenade to enjoy in the view.
Trogir is a 35-minute minivan ride away from Split, and the tour of the small town located on an island lasts for 90 minutes. Additional time is allocated for leisure activities and enjoying the promenade in Trogir. It is common to combine this excursion with a visit to Split, making the total duration 5 hours. Departure can be arranged at any time of the day.
